My Story

I never set out to become an author. I set out to make sense of life, the hard parts, the heartbreaking parts, the parts nobody teaches you how to survive. Writing became the way I processed my own journey, and over time, it became something bigger: a way to help young people find strength, purpose, and belief in themselves.
Before publishing, I spent years as a soldier, firefighter, a coach, and a youth mentor. I’ve worked with teenagers from every background, the quiet ones, the troubled ones, the resilient ones, the ones who just need someone to believe in them. I saw firsthand how many young people are growing up without guidance, without emotional tools, and without someone to tell them, “You can get through this.”
That’s why I created Beacon & Quill Publishing.
A beacon represents guidance and direction.
A quill represents story, wisdom, and legacy. Together, they symbolise
everything I aim to bring into the world through my books.
My first non-fiction book, A Teenager’s A–Z Guide to Earth School,
grew from my desire to give teens the lessons I wish I’d learned earlier
— about confidence, relationships, resilience, mental health, and
navigating life with heart and honesty. It’s become a resource for
students, parents, teachers, and young adults who want real guidance
written in a way that actually feels human.
My debut novel, The Boy Who Played With Fire, is fiction built on
truth. It carries pieces of every kid I’ve coached, every struggle I’ve
seen, and every battle we fight behind closed doors. It’s raw, emotional,
and unapologetically real, because life is. Through Jax Page, I explore
masculinity, vulnerability, friendship, trauma, rugby league culture, and
what it means to grow up in Australia when the world feels heavy.
Everything I write has one purpose:
To help young people feel seen, understood, and less alone.
I’m not here to be perfect. I’m here to be honest.
If my books spark hope, courage, or self-belief in even one young person, then I’ve done my job.
Welcome to my world, where stories are more than entertainment.
They’re tools for growth, connection, and change.
